Turbine environments, such as jet engines and energy generation turbines, are very harsh for existing sensors due to corrosive gases, high temperatures, high pressure, and oxidation. Optimization of turbine operation and maintenance is challenging due to a lack of sensing capability within a functioning turbine.
Sporian Microsystems has a promising approach for addressing the sensing requirements of extremely harsh environments utilizing a novel polymer derived ceramic (PDC) material. The PDC material has excellent thermo mechanical, oxidation, and corrosion resistance properties. The electrical properties of the PDC can be tuned by modifying the polymer precursor. Because the ceramic starts out in polymer form, there is also significant opportunity to shape the components using micro molding, photo lithography, or thin film deposition techniques. The resulting components can be produced very cost effectively
Sporian AssetOverseer® HT-1000 sensors are proving to operate robustly in high temperature (1000+ Celsius) and high pressure (1000 PSI) environments. Contact us for more information about this exciting sensor capability.
